The Inspiration for Mudita - Shri Brahmananda Sarasvati

Mudita Yoga Guru and Founder of Ananda Ashram, Shri Brahmananda Sarasvati, was a highly respected spiritual teacher. A prolific author on the science and philosophy of Yoga-Vedanta, he integrated the universal message of these teachings with his deep knowledge of both Eastern and Western medicine and psychology. His areas of specialty ranged from Ayurveda to modern psychiatry. Mudita Yoga is inspired by his grace and teachings.

Shawn Harrison
Practicing yoga for two decades and benefiting from its powerful effects on physical and mental wellbeing, Shawn was inspired to teach and share this experience with others. Following a year of intense training in India in 2002, including 3 months at Sivananda Ashram and 6 months at Osho Meditation Center, she immersed herself in a yogic lifestyle at Ananda Ashram in Monroe, NY. After living, working, studying and teaching at Ananda for 4 years, she was moved to open Mudita Yoga. She is currently director of Mudita where she teaches classes focusing on using asana as a gateway to greater awareness and freedom. Shawn is dedicated to the practice of yoga with the goal of bringing more happiness and peace into the world. Her classes are energizing, strengthening and relaxing; focusing on tuning into our bodies and breath as tools to free ourselves from habitual mental and physical patterns that cause strain, tension and suffering. The intended result is peace and ease. Her inspiration is Shri Brahmananda Sarasvati, Baba Shiva Rudra Balayogi, Swami Sivananda, Thich Nhat Hanh, Osho, Sri Ramana Maharishi, Gangaji and Amma Sri Karunamayi. Shawn is grateful to these teachers and for the opportunity to be in loving service.
